The Salvation Army was founded in London, England, in 1865 by William Booth. It is now an international organization with divisions in 100 countries throughout the world. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Through 4 area services in Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, 47 community centers in as many cities and 170 Volunteer Service Units in towns and villages, the people of The Salvation Army work side by side with volunteers to tackle the monumental task of making a positive difference in the fragile lives of thousands.

Meeting need at the point of need - that's the goal of The Salvation Army.
