The Salvation Army was founded in London, England, in 1865 by William Booth. It is now an international organization with divisions in 100 countries throughout the world. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

In one small corner of the world, The Empire State Division in Upstate New York has been charged by God to reach out and make change happen.

Through 6 area services in Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Jamestown, Rochester and Syracuse, 57 community centers in as many cities and 199 Volunteer Service Units in towns and villages, the people of The Salvation Army work side by side with volunteers to tackle the monumental task of making a positive difference in the fragile lives of thousands.

Meeting need at the point of need - that's the goal of The Salvation Army.
